Responsibilities
Create database instances, user schemas,
synonyms, views (both materialized and
non-materialized), etc., for various
development environments
Define appropriate data partition based on
business or application needs
Define database standards and schema
processes for change control
Ensure necessary encryption for the index
or columns based on Indian IT Act or
business need
Identify query flaws or connection leakage
and fix performance issues
Enable archiving strategy or rule based on
business requirements and write scripts for
archiving
Perform audit data storages and backup
strategies
Perform schema upgrade / downgrade for
various non-production environments
Set up appropriate database startup /
connection parameters such as CHARSET
and SGA
Define appropriate indexes (including
function) based on business need or
application performance
Configure Oracle11g database on AIX and
support application development
Take the entire solution database into
“production box”
Ensure compliance with database security
policy for all environments
Required Skill Sets
Degree in engineering or a Master of
Computer Applications (MCA) degree with
minimum five years’ experience in database
administration
Unix, SQL, PL / SQL
Must have worked in the financial domain
(preferably insurance)
Well-versed in Linux operating system on a
virtual environment
Oracle 11g database administration
commands and Oracle system tables
Oracle Database Monitoring tools
Experience in Oracle RAC and Oracle
services such as XML
